No you clearly don’t understand either. I said repeatedly i don’t agree with any fetishization and i know its just another form of racism which does harm people - i know that and it’s wrong, i know that too. But they need to understand that not EVERY person who is interested in Korean or another Asian country’s culture is one of those people fetishizing Koreans or the people of whatever country they are interested in. I know there’s a hell of a lot of people who do have these fetishes but i’m not one of them and theres plenty of other people like me who aren’t either. Fyi i’m not in denial about anything. I’ve been to Korea and i’ve experienced some of the shitty things about it so i’m not one of these girls who have Korea up on some high pedestal like it’s some perfect and heavenly dreamland because it’s just not.
*P.s during my visit to Korea i again - unlike a lot of Kpop fans that visit Korea - did not spend a single day of our visit trying to stalk idols, trying to find all the entertainment company buildings so i could wait outside for hours in hope of seeing anybody remotely famous or try to find and eat in any restaurant owned by any Kpop idol or their family. I couldn’t give a crap. I went to Korea to meet friends, see the country and experience the culture and thats exactly what we did.No *secondhandsextape* you are not doing anything wrong. It’s perfectly okay to like any country or culture or even just parts of it if you want to. *thisisnotkorea* needs to get off their high horse and stop thinking anybody who is interested in any asian culture is therefore a wannabe, racist or somebody with a crazy asian fetish. Who’s the one assuming everybody’s the same now? I don’t agree with people who have actual fetishes either and say they ‘only like koreans’ or ‘only like asians’ and i fully agree that they’re being racist too but they have no right to tell people what they can and cannot like.
I have friends from all over the world (not just from asian countries) who are ‘fans’ of British or English culture and seem to love all things ‘typically british’ that are in fact not typical, but do i have a massive ass chip on my shoulder about it? No. The answer is no i do not because they can like whatever they like as long as it’s not doing anybody any harm (which it’s not) and also i don’t choose to be a douche about it.
P.s before i get accused wrongly of ‘fetishization’ like a lot of the people who’s posts are being attacked by this angry being with clearly nothing better to do, I’m well aware Korean people are just like people from any other country and theres plenty of douchebag guys and bitch ass girls because i’ve had the pleasure of speaking to them…*thisisnotkorea* poster being one of them :)

A pastor in Seoul, South Korea has created a “baby box” for people so that people who would otherwise abandon or kill their newborns can leave them somewhere safe instead. The box has a light, a towel lining, and a bell rings as soon as a baby is placed in it so the pastor, his wife, or one of his staff can come and get it right away.
Lee Jong-rak started the box in 2009, and has welcomed all babies, often disabled or the children of single mothers, that have been placed in the box since. The babies are given a loving home, food, and shelter in his orphanage. Currently, an average of 17-18 babies are placed in the box every month.
One mother who had considered poisoning her baby before she heard about the Baby Box left her baby in the box with a letter pinned to his clothing that read:
‘My baby! Mom is so sorry.
I am so sorry to make this decision.
My son! I hope you to meet great parents,
And I am very very sorry.
I don’t deserve to say a word.
sorry, sorry, and I love you my son.
Mom loves you more than anything else.
I leave you here because I don’t know who your father is.
I used to think about something bad but I guess this box is safer for you.
That’s why I decided to leave you here.
My son, Please forgive me.’
- ‘A single mother’s tearful letter’Lee Jong-rak is the subject of a documentary called “The Drop Box”, which I haven’t seen - but I can recommend this 13 minute Dateline video. You can find the Facebook page for the BabyBox here.
